Anywho, last night I went for a quick jog around the capitol building, and I noticed the beautiful arrangement of the state and national flags. And that got me to thinking about all the places I've called home and all the flags that I've lived under. I even got a little misty eyed (although that could have been the sweat from my forehead rolling into my eyeballs.).
So here's the Utah flag. Ain't it grand? I get a bitter kick out of the two "established" dates. The US government has a lot to answer for when it comes to their bigoted treatment of my Mormon forefathers. I guess the U.S. just wasn't ready for us.

Then Germany (It was two countries back then.).

And let's not forget Pennsylvania...

Where I met my favorite Canadian friends.

At times, I felt more "at home" in Canada, than some of the places I was actually living. In total, I've probably lived there for less than a year. But many of these provinces I've thought of as home.
Quebec... New Brunswick...
Ontario...
Which makes me think fondly of this flag.

Unfortunately...
because so many ignorant white rednecks insisted on turning it into a symbol that has more in common with this piece of crap....

These will have to do.
The Confederate States flag.
And the Bonnie Blue.
Isn't if fun to think about all the places you've been and all the places you'll go?

Unfortunately...

These will have to do.
The Confederate States flag.

Love you:)
I think eating the pile of dirt may explain some things! :)
An excellent commentary.
Sarah: I love you too.
Marissa: Whatever could you mean by that? Are you suggesting it might explain my beautiful earth tone skin and eyes? Or my unfathomable oneness with mother nature? Maybe you were referring to my unmatched depth for curiosity or boldness for exploration? There are just so many possiblities. Perhaps you could clarify.
Kira: To which "commentary" were you referring?
Hey Becky!! How's it going?
LOL, so... how long did it take you to find and post all those flag pictures?
Awesome.
I tell you what Serene...it was a job. Some of them in particular were a pain in the keester. The hardest were for the Iroquois Confederacy and the Nazi flag. The filters at work kept rejecting the word "Nazi." Ironic. Even a machine can be taught Nazism is wrong.
